Abstract

This paper aims to examine some groundbreaking innovations in the medical field, notably epigenetics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and telemedicine, from a humanistic perspective, justified on the axiological bases of legal science. An overview of the main scientific and technological advances in the medicine area was made, and, without neglecting their overall importance for society, there was also an effort to demonstrate how much progress can prove dangerous for the preservation of personal data and, also, individual guarantees, such as intimacy and privacy. Finally, taking into account the mandatory rule of law in all interpersonal relationships as well as the centralizing role of human dignity, it was possible to justify the use of empathy attribute in doctor-client relationships as an irreplaceable trait facing any Artificial Intelligence (AI) or technological mechanisms.
