The common origin of collective medical assistance institutions in Argentina and Uruguay: current organization on both sides of the river

This work analyzes the origins of the collective organization of health care in Argentina and Uruguay, as well as its current configuration. In this sense, it identifies common points of origin to conclude that, in relation to the current state, these systems share common characteristics, since they encompass an important sector of the population and were open to the general public, regardless of whether they belong to the respective field of activity or the founder of the community. However, they are differentiated by the fact that, although in Uruguay there was adhesion of original bodies to the Integrated National Health System, in Argentina the operation of Social Works seems to remain in the logic of watertight subsystems or compartments, warning of greater inequalities between the different subsectors.
